Creating an entry for the page you are entering the world with is a very difficult task. On the one hand, we cannot (nor do we want to) ignore the feelings that invade us and that greatly condition our view of architecture.

I confess that we have been looking for information on how this pandemic can affect the conception of world architecture.

There is nothing! It is logical, we are facing something totally unknown in the modern world and the changes it will cause cannot be predicted.

Lately, architecture (a part of architecture) was turning its gaze towards the creation of more humane, sustainable, ecological homes that can be integrated into the environment,…

The pandemic is likely to reposition us and force us to take the design of “shareable livable homes” more seriously. Although, fear may also lead some to create houses that are completely isolated and prepared to survive situations like the one we face.

The truth is that, if the design and construction of the homes change depending on the needs and personality of the client, it is likely that they will change if we come out of this rethinking things that we did not even think about before. For a long time, homes were places to sleep, perhaps eat and watch TV. Confinement is surely making us reflect on what we would like our homes to be like at this time when they serve as offices, schools, playgrounds...

It is probably not a question of increasing the dimensions of the homes, but rather reconsidering their distribution, more functional and less rigid; as well as orientation, light, whether it is outside, ventilation, etc., will be values to take into account when designing new homes after confinement has made us see how important they are for our physical and health. psychic and that of our family.

We ourselves, the professionals, are not going to leave the situation indifferent either. We will probably have to face a new crisis situation and we will once again have to reinvent ourselves and be reborn into a market that will probably not look anything like the one we had before the confinement. But we are convinced that every stone in the road is an opportunity to grow.
